The quality management work process includes four major steps:
- Planning for Quality
- Deploying the Quality Management Plan
- Execution of Quality Control and Quality Assurance
- Continuous Improvement
Planning for Quality includes the following:
- Identify and document owner customer requirements
- Establish project quality goals and objectives
- Prequalify contractors and suppliers
- Determine the Quality Assurance approach
- Document the Quality Management Plan
- Select contractors and suppliers
In Deploying the Quality Management Plan, the owner must:
- Staff quality-related roles
- Communicate the Quality Management Plan
- Obtain required testing equipment and services
Execution of Quality Control and Quality Assurance includes the following tasks:
- Individual contractors execute their QC programs
- Owner executes the QA program
- Non-conformance is identified and confronted
To encourage Continuous Improvement, the owner should:
- Analyze quality performance
- Provide feedback
- Gather and analyze documentation and data
- Develop and share a job history
- Evaluate the contractor(s)
