The Construction Industry Safety Excellence (CISE) Awards program was established to recognize commendable safety management and safety improvements of owners, constructors, and Local User Councils. The organization will recognize those firms or organizations that have most effectively implemented the recommendations of the CURT Owners' Safety Blueprint.

2009 Owner Safety Award Winners
Presented by The Construction Users Roundtable (CURT), the Construction Industry Safety Excellence (CISE) Owner Awards were developed to recognize commendable safety management by owner member companies of CURT that have most effectively implemented the recommendations of The Construction Users Roundtable R-807, CURT Construction Owners' Safety Blueprint and other CURT user practices. The awards are conferred upon the companies who can demonstrate exemplary programs of safety management that go beyond merely adopting a safety program. The programs must demonstrate a serious owner's management commitment and collaborative involvement to make the program work. Following are the Owner CISE award winners for 2009:

2009 Contractor Safety Award Winners
Presented by The Construction Users Roundtable (CURT), the Construction Industry Safety Excellence (CISE) Constructor Awards recognizes commendable safety performance of individual constructor firms over a sustained time period. The awards are intended to convey The Construction Users Roundtable's (CURT) strong support of constructor safety performance. This award emphasizes CURT's commitment to promoting safe construction as a key component of cost effective project delivery. While CURT recognizes that constructors have the primary responsibility for execution of on-site safety, it understands that constructors are most effective when they work in conjunction with the owner and architects/engineers to ensure an overall safe workplace. Following are the Constructor CISE Award winners for 2009:

2009 Block Kids
Sponsored by the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), the Block Kids program gives over 6,000 elementary school children every year a chance to try their hand at construction innovation. It's a timed competition that challenges youngsters to conceive, plan and build a structure using specified materials like string, poster board and aluminum foil. Volunteers then judge the completed projects in local, regional and national competitions.

- Recognize and promote continuous improvements in construction industry safety performance.
- Provide recognition for outstanding owner and contractor safety performance.
- Communicate with regulatory agencies regarding Owner's position on safety issues and practices. Recommend solutions in accordance with CURT member policies.
- Develop a Blueprint of problem areas to be addressed by the committee.
- Develop educational materials on safety improvement for use by owner and contractor organizations.
